Job Description

An exciting 8 week paid Internship experience awaits! Gain real life experience into the world of Insurance Brokerage. You will work within a high-energy, fast paced environment that is both competitive and fun. This role will afford the opportunity to work with our Professional Liability & Employee Benefits Teams in Dallas, Texas for the summer, 2019. This is an exciting opportunity since you will experience the administration of a liability consultation and employee benefits exposition programs for the most high profile Architectural and Engineering firms in the United States. Some of their design projects include nationally known bridges, sports stadiums, sky scrapers, recognizable churches, and even buildings perhaps on your campus.

Our summer internship program offers the chance to have practical, real world experience at a Top 20 P&C Broker. As a part of the program, you will have the opportunity to work on business specific projects where you will gain knowledge and experience to supplement and strengthen your skills.

You will:

  • Receive targeted business and technical training with a greater understanding of our broader industry
  • Engage with Professional Liability and Employee Benefit Team members and be assigned specific tasks relating to the renewal of a large Architect or Engineering client account.
  • Shadow Team members on meetings with the client and be in attendance at client decision meetings and conference calls.
  • Learn, and then make a presentation or presentations to clients on which products to use to avert risk, or explain and inform to employees of firms how to use insurance products the firm has chosen.
  • Shadow account managers on loss control meetings and how to avoid profit losses due to design failures.
  • Work with Team Members and others to learn about our Design Professional Practice and how our work impacts the lives and designs of others.
  • Be assigned a dedicated Internship Mentor during your Internship experience.
  • Learn about our industry and attend Virtual Seminars for knowledge exposure to some of our other practices (Cyber, Private Client, Fine Arts, and Entertainment etc.).
  • Engage with HR for Mentoring Sessions (Creating/Updating Your LinkedIn profile, Interviewing Best Practices, Resume Writing, Job Search tips etc.).

 

Job Requirements

  • Must be a Rising Senior (Anticipated Graduation 5/20).
  • 3.0 GPA or higher (Transcript required prior to in-person interview).
  • Must be pursuing a degree in Finance, Risk Management or Economics (previous insurance internship experience may be considered in lieu of).
  • Must be available to interview in-person in December/January at the local hosting office.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
  • Must be detailed oriented.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite.
